Meet Matt

Kia ora! I’m Matt Bruns, an ordained Anglican Priest and supervisor based in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, where I live with my wife Rachel and our three teenage daughters.

I offer reflective supervision to people in various forms of Christian ministry, including pastoral ministry, Christian leadership, youth ministry and chaplaincy. Prior to ministry, I worked in radio and with high school students.

A bit of my story

I have been part of various churches for most of my life (apart from a few prodigal years). I’ve served in youth ministry and as a youth pastor. I’ve been in ordained ministry since 2012, and I am currently an Associate Priest at St Paul’s Church Symonds Street, Auckland.

I am passionate about offering a safe and sacred space for people to navigate the highs and lows of ministry and understand how vital it is to have someone who helps with accountability and professional development. I have my own regular spiritual direction and supervision.

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
